Al Quattrocchi (aka Al Q) has been saltwater fly fishing and tying flies for over thirty five years. His personal mentors include Lefty Kreh, Neal Taylor, Nick Curcione and Bob Popovics.

On May 14th, 2016, he became a two-time, IGFA world record holder shattering two local records for two individual species in one morning. Al was recently awarded the Ross Allen Marigold Complete Angler Award by the historic Pasadena Fly Casting Club. His articles, photography and fly patterns have been published in many prominent fly fishing magazines across the country. He is a licensed surf fly fishing guide and with MCI casting instructor, Jim Solomon, they teach casting techniques to anglers around the globe with a program they designed entitled, The Flyzone. Al founded the popular One Surf Fly in So-Cal which lasted nine seasons and raised thousands of dollars for non profits supporting fishing. Each spring, Al and fly fishing celebrity, Conway Bowman team up to host the Carp Throwdown each year in beautiful, Lake Henshaw, San Diego. It's the premiere, catch and release carp tournament in Southern CA.

Al has fished around the globe but still feels sight fishing for corbina in the shallow summer California surf is still one of the most challenging games in saltwater fly fishing!
